Sure. At my previous job, a backend colleague and I disagreed about the API for a new search page. He wanted one big endpoint that returned everything, and I wanted separate, smaller endpoints so the frontend could load results faster.
At first we argued in the pull request comments, and it wasn't going anywhere. So I suggested a short call. I came with numbers: the big response was about 2 megabytes, and on mobile it took almost four seconds to load. He explained that several small endpoints would mean more maintenance on his side, which was a fair point.
In the end we agreed on a middle ground: one endpoint, but with pagination and an optional field list. Load time dropped to under a second. And honestly, we worked even better after that, because we started discussing API design before writing code.
